Director of Communications

The Office of New York State Senator James Skoufis seeks a highly motivated Director of Communications to provide strategic oversight and execution of the Senator's messaging, external communications, and press relations in his Cornwall District Office. Candidates must be highly dependable, organized, and have strong written and oral communication skills. This dynamic role will include the following
Responsibilities:
oPrepare media advisories, press releases, statements, talking points, quotes, and speeches. oPlan, execute, and document press conferences in locations throughout Orange County, including interfacing with local officials, members of the press, and community partners. oOccasional travel to/coordination in Albany is required. oDraft, post, and monitor social media content across the Senator's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages. oAdvise staff on the Senator's positions and prepare internal and external talking points and constituent responses. oField calls and inquiries from members of local, state, and national press. oSchedule and coordinate media appearances for the Senator. oStaff the Senator at local events, taking photos/video when appropriate. oAttend local events on the Senator's behalf, with occasional speaking opportunities. oMaintain and publish content on the Senator's NYSenate.gov microsite. oDraft, design, and distribute email newsletters to constituents using the Senate's Bluebird Mail platform. oCollaborate with the Event Coordinator and other members of staff to produce event materials, posters, flyers, and invitations. oMaintain digital and analogue records of the Senator's press clippings. oMonitor and maintain the Senator's listing and photos across various websites. oEquipment provided:

Salary Range:
From $50000 to $58000 Annually
Minimum Qualification
The most qualified candidates will have:
o2-3 years of experience in communications or marketing for government or non-profit organizations oA bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public policy or other relevant field of study oA demonstrated design sensibility oPreferred software familiarity:
Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Forms), Microsoft Office, Canva or Adobe, Mailchimp or ConstantContact oExisting relationships with and understanding of the Orange County press landscape is a plus oAccess to a personal vehicle is required.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
